Why do my tweets get no views?
Tweets get no views on X when almost nobody is served the post. Common causes are a protected account, very few active followers, a reply that only shows inside the conversation, an unconfirmed email, or visibility limits after spam flags. A brand-new post can also take up to a minute to show its view count.
Low views are one thing. Zero views is different. You post, wait, refresh, and the counter just sits there at 0, or 3, which you suspect are all yours.
Don't worry, this happens to a lot of people on X (formerly Twitter), and the cause is usually something simple. This guide is for the "nobody at all" problem. If you get some views but fewer than you'd like, why your Twitter impressions are so low is the better fit.
First, rule out a counting issue
Sometimes the post has views, but the count isn't showing yet or doesn't apply. Check these before anything else.
According to X's help page on view counts, a new post can take up to a minute to show a count. Some post types never get one: Community posts, X Circle posts and older posts.
Also remember that your own views count. If a post shows 2 views and you opened it twice, the real number from other people may be zero. That's useful to know, because it tells you the problem is distribution, not counting.
The 8 most common reasons tweets get no views
Work through these in order. The first four are the most common and the easiest to fix.
1. Your account is protected
If your posts are protected, only approved followers can see them. Protected posts also don't appear in public search, according to X's search help page. Look in your privacy settings for the "Protect your posts" option. If it's on and you want reach, turn it off.
2. You have very few active followers
With 10 followers, and only a couple who open X daily, a post can easily get zero early views. X's For You feed ranks posts by predicted reactions, so a post with no early activity has little to go on. Growth here starts with replies, not more posts. See how to get your first 100 followers.
3. It's a reply, not a post
Replies mostly live inside the conversation. X's open-source For You code filters out replies from accounts the viewer doesn't follow, so strangers usually see your reply only if they open the thread. On busy posts, replies also get ranked, and yours can sit far down. Why your replies get no views covers this in detail.
4. Your email isn't confirmed
X's search help page lists an unconfirmed email as one reason posts may not appear in search. It takes a minute to fix in your account settings, and it removes one easy obstacle.
5. Your post looks like spam to the system
Posts packed with hashtags, repeated links without comment, or the same text sent many times can trigger spam checks. X's search help also says posts that don't "contribute to the conversation in a meaningful way" may not show in search.
6. Your account has visibility limits
X can limit how far posts travel when it believes rules were broken. Its enforcement page lists actions such as excluding posts from search, removing them from For You and Following, and limiting them to your profile. X says it doesn't "shadow ban," but these limits are real. How to tell if your account is restricted shows the signs.
7. Your account is locked
If X locked your account, you may need to confirm a phone number or email, or pass a check, before things return to normal. Locked accounts are a clear reason for near-zero activity. Log in on the web and look for any prompt.
8. You posted at a dead time
X's code drops posts older than 48 hours from For You. If you post while your few followers are asleep, the post may age out before anyone sees it.
A 5-minute checklist
Here's exactly what to do if your tweets get no views today:
- Ask a friend to open your profile from their account. If they can't see your posts, check your privacy settings.
- Confirm your email in account settings.
- Check for any lock prompt or label on your posts.
- Look at your last ten posts. Remove repeated hashtags and copy-paste text from future posts.
- Post your next update when your followers are most active, and reply to three bigger accounts in your niche the same hour.
How to check for hidden labels
X is piloting a tool called "Under the Hood" that shows visibility-affecting labels on your account and posts. It's described in X's algorithm repo. Reports from August 2026 say it was limited to accounts over a year old that post at least 10 times a month, so newer accounts may not have it yet.
If you do find a label, how to recover Twitter account reach explains the steps to get back to normal.
What this means for you
Zero views almost always has a concrete cause. Most of the time it's a setting, a small audience, or the fact that the post was a reply. Fix the setting, grow the audience through good replies, and the counter starts moving.
When you're ready to build from there, how to get more impressions on X has the next steps. And if you want help finding good conversations to join, I built a free extension, XVision, that marks fresh posts from bigger accounts with few replies as "Reply early," which is a good place to start.
No views is a starting point you can fix
If your tweets get no views, start with the simple checks: privacy, email, locks and labels. Then focus on replies and timing to build that first small audience. The fix is simpler than it looks, and once the first views come in, they tend to build on each other.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do my own views count on my tweets?
Yes, your own views count on X. The X help center says that if you are the author, looking at your own post counts as a view. So a post showing 1 or 2 views may have zero views from other people. Ask a friend to check the post from their account to be sure.
Why does my tweet show views but no likes?
A tweet with views but no likes on X was seen but didn't give people a reason to react. That usually points to the first line, the topic fit, or timing, rather than a restriction. Try a clearer hook, a stronger point, or a direct question that invites people to reply.
Can a new X account get zero views?
Yes, a new X account can easily get zero views on its first posts. With few followers, there is almost no one in the account's network to see a post first. Replying thoughtfully to active accounts in your niche is usually the fastest way to get those first views and followers.
Are tweets in Communities counted as views?
No, Community posts on X do not show view counts, according to the X help center. The same goes for X Circle posts and older posts. A Community post can still be seen and read by people. It just won't display a view number, so check replies and likes instead.
How long should I wait before worrying about zero views?
Wait at least a few hours before worrying about zero views on X. View counts can take up to a minute to appear, and small accounts often get their first viewers slowly. If several posts in a row get zero views over a few days, start working through privacy, email and restriction checks.
